6017 - Arson, Morristown
On Friday May 26, 2006 at 3:17 am, the Morristown Police and Fire Departments responded to 20 Sussex Avenue, Morristown, NJ for a structure fire. Upon their arrival, they found heavy fire conditions in the occupied two-family residence. Responding police and fire fighters awoke the sleeping residents and safely evacuated all of the occupants of the building. Due to their quick actions, there were no injuries resulting from this fire. The fire caused heavy damage to the building before being extinguished by fire fighters from the Morristown and Cedar Knolls Fire Departments.
The investigation into the cause of the fire, conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Arson/Environmental Crimes Function, Morristown Police and Fire Departments and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section revealed that the fire was intentionally set.
