6020-Harding TWP. Abandoned Babies Found Dead
Although Harding Twp. is one of the most affluent places to live, it doesn't make them immune to very sad and troubling cases. One of the most disturbing tragedies is the death of three infants who were found abandoned. All three were found between 1955 and 1969, and though none happened recently, they are still horrendous crimes in which no one has ever paid for. It is this week that we especially want these babies to be in our minds. A baby boy was found on March 13, 1955; a baby girl was found on March 3, 1967, and a another boy found on July 4, 1969. All the infants were buried at the townships expense in Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown. Their graves are marked with simple gravestones that read, "known only to God." Lt. Michael Meade of Harding Twp. has not been deterred by the amount of time that has past. He is still working with the cold crimes unit of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. We hope that the rekindling of these tragedies will possibly motivate someone to come forward with some new leads or infomation. Please contact Lt. Meade at (973) 455-0500 or Greg Rossi at the prosecutor's office at (973)285-6200 or CrimeStoppers where you can annonymously leave information at 1-800-SHERIFF or (973)COP-CALL.
